A common piece of advice to budding entrepreneurs is: surround yourself with successful people. By extension, reading books written by successful people can also be beneficial.
If Reid Hoffman, the co-founder and chairman of LinkedIn, isn’t included in your inner circle, don’t despair because his new book, “The Start-up of You: Adapt to the Future, Invest in Yourself, and Transform Your Career” has lots of ideas on what it takes to be a successful entrepreneur.
I haven’t read the book yet, so I can’t vouch for its readability or practicality, but we do have a free copy to give away to one lucky reader.
Over at the small business section of the Alberta Venture we like contests. The last time around we had hundreds of entries for a Small Business Advice contest that saw Doug Parsons of Parsons Developments walk away with $10,000 worth of advertising space within Alberta Venture and a $5,000 cash prize from ATB Financial.
This time around, we’d like to know: who is your business hero?
We’ll take your answers at firstname.lastname@example.org until Feb. 29 and we’ll send the book along to the best response.
